Green Sea turtles not endangered anymore

Postby Netherrealmer » 31 Oct 2025, 06:40

Right now, there's a new news that makes me happy. Sea turtles are not endangered anymore. The banning of plastic straws and many countries banning plastics have reduced the deaths of many sea turtles because a lot of sea turtles die mistaking plastic straws and other plastic in the ocean. They mistake it as jellyfish, which is one of their favorite foods. Another thing that made them endangered back then is the poaching and also people who hunt for their eggs because their meat used to be a popular delicacy but many countries tried to ban their poaching so they are not endangered anymore. But it doesn't mean that you can go to the ocean and start hunting them. No, they're still vulnerable. They are now categorized as Least concert.

The other species of sea turtles, though, are still considered endangered, like the leatherback sea turtle and Hawk Bill sea turtles are still vulnerable.

That's great news, hopefully care will continue to be taken so that they can survive and thrive. It would be easy for authorities to become complacent and let them become endangered again.

This is a very good news.
So it shows that environmental measures if taken in right earnest would indeed make a lot of difference.
Such news can galvanize groups and individuals working for other conservation programs to do more and achieve the results that they want.

That's excellent news! It's encouraging to see conservation efforts making a difference. Let's keep protecting the other vulnerable species as well.

I wish they never announced this news because poachers might see this as opportunity

This news about sea turtles is not uncommon and is really interesting. In the past, they were very endangered because people hunted for their meat and took their eggs, but now things have changed. Many countries have banned plastic and even those straws that turtles used to think were jellyfish and ate and died. Conservation has done a great job so far, they have been placed in the Least Concern group. But that doesn't mean you can go and catch them indiscriminately, they still need protection. If we don't protect them, we will go back to where we were. The environment is ours, we must all take care of it wisely.
