Admin need not be the most active person but he surely needs to be engaged with the forum and aware of the happenings. He is the captain of the ship and so has to guide it to navigate in correct direction. He needs to moderate and maintain the quality.

If the admin cant be active most of the time, he should atleast hire a moderator who will temporarily manage and watch on his site while he is away. But if he is alone and still cant be active, what is the sense of him running a website?

Not necessarily, moderators know only what they are told by the admin of the site so most moderators work as mediators with few extra powers. However money is not in their power so they know the least in this matter.

I think that an admin should oversee a site and occasionally make their presence felt but they don't need to be posting constantly. Here admin will post if someone asks a question they can answer or they may be working behind the scenes to keep on top of people trying to scam the site or they may reward members by giving out rep points. It makes us aware they are keeping an eye on things to keep the site running smoothly,

Of course. I think as an admin you should try to be as active as possible to show your forum members that you care about the forum and that you are there to help whenever.

Exactly. They should always attend the inquiries of the members or else the members will think that he is not thatnconcern to his members and on his site as well.

Being an admin means you are the leader and the captain and this means you should be active than any one else in the platform. This is so much importance because there might be a technical problem or question in the platform perhaps your staff can be challenged to do or answer.

I agree with you @pmuses and the admin can also employ assistant admin to over see affairs when he or she is absent
