The reason so many websites are offering free website builders is simple, it's a great way to suck you in to spending more money with them. The truth is you can buy better web hosting for a buck a month and build your own site from a template for free, with no strings attached.

Agreed. First they offer you free website builder, then they begin to spam with offers.

If you do not have designing skills, I think you can try website builders. The free version will give you a subdomain, however, the premium version will get you a free domain and free website builder for just around $5 a month.

I would like to have my own website too. I will try out a website builder since I don't know designing.

YouTube has all kinds of tutorials on editing free templates to create your own websites. Remember, it's the content that counts more than the design.

It is true that what ultimately matters is the content and not the design. However, it is also true that the first impression is always the design and if the website has poor design people will not stop to check the contents.

Wordpress, Webs or Weebly.
The cool thing about Weebly is that you can use the free app and they will allow your Google Ad Sense and affilate ads.
But all 3 platforms are really good.

I was not aware that you could use adsense on free weebly.

If you mean the design is absolute garbage I would agree with you, but it does NOT need to win awards to get the point across and make money.

The site design is important, however, more than the design the contents should be better. An average design but good contents will get you traffic compared to good designs and average contents.

If you are using free website builder, you will end up using a sub domain for your website. If you do not want to use subdomain, you have to buy a premium version. Premium version will cost you at least $5 a month.

If you are using free website builders, monetizing your site can be really difficult. Free website builders are only for those who want a website for fun.

You can try premium version. Most of the website builders offer free domain. If you do not have technical skills website builders will come very handy.

This is simply not true. There are exceptions.

Yes, there are exceptions. However, you cannot use network ads on your a free site or free website builder. Some free sites even do not allow affiliate marketing.
