YouTube Channel Stealing My Text Content

Postby skysnap » 08 Jun 2017, 18:09

I have found one YouTube channel that is stealing my work.

The guy is copying my website content in word and then just reading it out loud. And also showing the word text which he is reading out loud.

I caught him. And I have filed DMCA on Youtube channel.

No result.

Reporting. Google support. All failed.

Can I do something about this? Any suggestion?

I'm interested in the response you got from YouTube community?
If you share that we can help you from there I guess since I'm not well aware of YouTube community guidelines.

That sucks. I'm sorry someone stole your work. I hope it gets resolved to your satisfaction.

Could it be that it takes time to investigate the DMCA complaint you filed and you just haven't received a response yet, or did you receive a reply but they aren't going to do anything?

Did you file a DMCA on the Youtube channel or the actual content?

I suspect Google/Youtube would be more responsive if you file reports on the content. If you file enough successful reports, they may shut the account down. I believe you also have to complete a quiz on copyright infringement before you can use your account again.

Also- did you try here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2807622?hl=en?

This is a serious problem :( I'm wondering how many times this happens... I think this kind of things happen a lot!
I really don't know how to help you, but in your case I would insist and even contact the person directly. :(

Okay. I see you've been given some good suggestion up here to go about this.
But have you consider the idea of asking the YouTube Channel owner to pay you for using your content or-else you'll sue him? Maybe you can give it a thought if you've never sold the articles he used anywhere else
Maybe think business if he'll be co-operative :)

I contacted him. He said, "do whatever the hell you want, I am not taking down the content, I want to make money, be it stealing or whatever. Why you want to make money but not willing to share your content for us". I asked youtube to take down videos, they said, are you registered copyright owner? i asked them how does that work? they said do you have legal registration of work? and so goes my hardwork away.

Does your work have a Copyright sign on the bottom?

Yes. I have standard youtube license option selected. Nothing works. That guy still has the channel. And he continues to plagiarize.

OMG that's just awful, and I'm really sorry to hear that! I mean, do people have no shame at all?! I knew there were lazy people out there who still content, but I didn't know it extended to YouTube. I hope the person who's doing this gets penalised and/or banned. Not cool at all.

Yes, this seems to be the trend. The question is how far are you willing to go to protect your work. Once you put it out there on a public domain, there is no guarantee it will not be "public property".

Usually YouTube is really strict in terms of copyright so I would suggest you to keep trying and never give up on that because that's the only way you gonna win the case. Try contacting YouTube on social media websites and try contacting the person who stole your content personally and maybe you could fix or get something out of that.. ?

Which is kind of weird tbh unless he is promoting them and giving them credits. I mean if you just steal the video and post it on your channel saying you made it is really lame.

I am sorry to hear that. I had the similar problem too. 12 of my posts at Hubpages were stolen by 2 guys at Expertscolumn. I had contacted DMCA, Expertscolumn site admin and Hubpages, nothing work out. I understand how you feel,

That is traggic at time when someone copy your work and showcase it to receive the credit. i hope the appropriate authority handle it well.

There is actually nothing you can do about it.

Only Ideea I can think of is:
Step1:
Copy a BigName content
Step2:
Wait for him to copy your copy.
Step3:
Remove your copy
Step4:
Re-report/flag for copyright both through YouTube and OG owners mail/contact.

If you're work is indeed genuine, you should copy a copyright disclaimer warning thing at the end of your articles so That will discourage most copycats(even if it is a lie, they won't usually check).
